Last week our new Hospital to Home Worker for Fife, Jacqueline, and Grant, one of our volunteer Peer Supporters, attended ASIST – Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training.
This will equip them both with the skills and confidence to manage conversations about suicide and also intervene and support anyone who is considering ending their life.
Jacqueline said, “it certainly reinforced my confidence, refreshed my skills, as well as updated my knowledge. It was a valuable experience very impactful & engaging”
From time to time our support workers do have conversations with bereaved parents around suicidal thoughts or acts and we appreciate how hard it can be to talk about these issues. Please know we are committed to ensuring all our families are kept safe and are able to access the support and intervention they may need where necessary.
It’s okay not to be okay and it’s okay to talk about how you are feeling if things ever start to feel too much
