Toni & Nina’s Story – Christmas and Other Significant Dates

After losing our baby girl Nina in December 2025, our first milestone we faced was leaving the hospital without our much wanted & loved little girl. It was Christmas week, so much festive cheer all around & our world was shattered.
I have always loved Christmas, the family time, the lights, the trees and just celebrating. This was a completely different experience, why us, why at this time.

We visited Nina at the funeral directors on Christmas Eve, most people getting excited for what was to come the next day, but our life was shattered.
After her funeral on the 30th. We collected Nina to bring her home on 31st December, Hogmanay – our girl was finally home with us.

Then there was her first Valentines Day, Mother’s Day, her first Easter, Father’s Day…we sent a balloon up to our girl for her firsts and we’ll continue to do this, hoping she sees them from heaven.

We created an instagram page, for quotes, photos and to keep her memory alive. Her due date, knowing that she should have arrived then and been part of our everyday lives, but now all we have is memories. A group of my closest friends and myself did the kiltwalk in memory of Nina, and to raise money for Held In Our Hearts – that was a very emotional day. And there are still many more milestones to come…
