Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week

Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 runs from Monday 4th – Sunday 10th May and it’s a week dedicated to acknowledging all maternal mental health issues before, during and after pregnancy. This year’s theme for the week is ‘A Decade of Voices “.

Not only is the parent’s voice at the heart of everything we do, but we are also privileged every week to hear the strong voices of those we support. We understand strength looks different to everyone and sometimes it feels as if it’s the only choice we have. Over the years we have heard so many mothers draw strength from being able to talk about their babies, ensuring their legacy continues and the hope they will never be forgotten.

Losing a baby can have a profound impact on your mental health. Along with the deep feelings of loss and grief you feel for your little one, we can also feel as if we have lost ourselves somewhere along the way. The person we were before simply doesn’t exist any longer and it can be hard to navigate the path back to rediscovering parts of the old you and working out who the new you will look and feel like. You don’t have to do all of this alone. Finding your voice, talking about how you feel can help. You might have a close friend or family member who you can turn to for support, perhaps speaking to another bereaved parent is the support you need right now.

Held In Our Hearts are here to support families following the death of baby and we can also help support those suffering from post-natal depression following a loss, complex trauma and the anxiety that comes with pregnancy after loss.
