Huge welcome to our student midwife Claire

We are thrilled to have Claire on placement with us as part of her final year as a student midwife. It’s a wonderful opportunity for her to speak to families, attend groups/events, learn of our supports and generally be submerged in all we do. We know this can only enhance the care and compassion that the families will receive in the future in Claire’s care. From Claire – ‘I am currently a 3rd year student midwife at Edinburgh Napier University. I chose Sands Lothians for my elective placement to allow me to get a better insight into the support they offer and how this can help me in my future career as a midwife when caring for bereaved families. I am so grateful to the fantastic team at Sands for allowing me this experience. It is such a privilege to be involved with the range of support offered to bereaved parents and families and to hear about their precious babies. I know my time spent here will be invaluable to my practice going forward’
