Children’s mental health week

Children’s Mental Health Week (CMHW) runs this year between 9th – 15th February and we always take this opportunity to highlight some of the amazing charities we work with and resources we have available to ensure our families can receive well rounded care and support.

CMHW shines a light on the importance of mental wellbeing amongst children and young people. We speak to parents each week who are trying to process their own grief whilst supporting their living children through it all.

As our Hospital to Home support has grown, we are seeing first-hand the impact the loss of a sibling has on a child and whilst we are there to primarily support the parents, this early intervention support which takes place within a family’s home, ensures we are able to signpost families to support for their children much sooner than before.

Through Lyle’s Light, our free book resource for siblings, we can gift age-appropriate books which focus on the ideas of love, grief, connection and loss. We know the importance of speaking openly and honestly with them about what has happened at a level which they will understand, and parents feel comfortable with.

Often reading a book together can be a helpful way to start a conversation or explain things in a simple way.
