Team SANDS Lothians in force at Men’s 10k!

A huge thank you to all the amazing men who ran for us in the Edinburgh Men’s 10k. It was a beautiful crisp morning and a fabulous route, starting at the iconic Edinburgh Castle, through the old town and along to a hero’s finish at Murrayfield Stadium.

All our runners were fab, including Scott Hastings who was supporting us this year. The event was an important chance to raise awareness of men’s health, especially men’s grief and we are very grateful to Niall Darroch, who shared with the Evening News and Forth One about his son Ryan, who was tragically stillborn. Special mention as well for Fraser Baxter who was running in memory of his daughter Jenna and Gary Welsh in memory of his son Theo.

This event was part of our wider work, raising awareness of men’s grief and we are working with a group of bereaved dads to discuss how we can move forward supporting them. We are hopeful for the future that men will seek support and we will keep you posted about our plans for 2018.

If you would like to be part of the team for the Men’s 10k next year, please email Tracy who can give you all the information you need – tracy@sands-lothians.org.uk
