Wave of Light Walk Around Arthur’s Seat

Join us in beautiful Holyrood Park as we gather again for our 4th Wave of Light to remember our babies, as we walk up the Queens Drive, around Arthur’s Seat to Dunsapie Loch. Meeting between 5:30 – 6:15pm. We will leave sharp at 6.15 and the walk will set off to Dunsapie Loch, where at 7pm we will join the global Wave of Light, lighting our candles to remember all of our little ones gone too soon. This is a family event, with everyone welcome to join us. Thanks to a generous grant from the National Lottery Awards for All Scotland, this event is free for all participants, however if you would like to help the work we do in supporting bereaved families you can chose to make a donation to Held In Our Hearts by choosing a ‘donation ticket’ when you register for this event. Many thanks if you chose to do this. Also remember to bring your electronic candle (an Edinburgh October night is not best suited to a traditional candle!) and if you would like to light yourselves up with fairy lights and flashing headbands for the walk feel free to let yourselves go! We will be selling candles, torches and light up items as well as our famous bobble hats and Baby Loss Awareness week candles and pins at the start of the walk. It should be noted that the walk is 2km up and 2km back (direct route) with the circular option (right aound Arthurs Seat) being 5km distance. Both routes are up a hill and so if you are bringing small children it is very much advised for you to have a buggy or a suitable carrier for them. The route is all paved and therefore suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs – however we will be walking in the dark and so care must be taken by all attendees and the walk is undertaken at each individuals own risk. The walk will depart from the eastern side of Broad Pavement Car Park (located behind Holyrood Palace – check what3words.com and search location words are ‘bond.faded.both’) at 6:15, follow the road passed St Margrets Loch and then turn up the Queens Drive up the hill to Dunsapie Loch (approx. 2km from the start) where we will gather together to light our candles. After 7pm there is the option to continue walking around the Queen’s Drive back to the start (total distance approx. 5km) or you can return to the start by the same route we came up. After the walk we invite everyone to join us at the MacDonald Holyrood Hotel (located opposite Dynamic Earth check what3words.com, location words ‘polite.inform.admiral’) for hot drinks and light refreshments.
