New memorial in Princes Street Gardens

Nicola was moved to see the Memorial for Princes Street Gardens take shape at Powderhall Bronze Art Studio. She was honoured to meet Sculptor Andy Scott and hear how privileged he feels to be creating this bronze monument in memory of all the babies affected by the Mortonhall Scandal. It has been a long time coming and the families who attended were very emotional seeing the giant baby elephant. When finished (hopefully by September) the elephant will have beautiful forget me not flowers embossed on it as ‘an elephant never forgets’ and neither do the families and people of Edinburgh. It’s heartwarming to think that children for generations to come will be able to hug the elephants trunk and hopefully be told why it was created. Always remembering the families affected and knowing their fight changed Scottish Law x
